![]() ![]() The August Wilson Monologue competition will include a competition for high school students for set and costume design. You can download and review the Full Competition Guide HERE. Individual students ( without a Student Code) interested in participating in the competition can apply using: THIS ONLINE FORM. Students participating with their school ( utilizing their Student Code) can apply using: THIS ONLINE FORM. School teachers & administrators can apply for their students using: THIS ONLINE FORM. Participants are adjudicated by a panel of Chicago theatre professionals on the basis of preparedness, understanding of the text, emotional connection to the material, and commitment to the performance. The competition is divided into Preliminaries, Semi-Finals and Finals.All students will be adjudicated separately.They may either compete as an individual or in a group with their school.Students must be currently enrolled in a regional high school.Students will prepare and perform a 2-3 minute monologue of their choosing from one of the ten plays in August Wilson’s Century Cycle. Thank you to The Logan Center for the Arts for the generous donation of their space for the preliminary monologue auditions. The August Wilson Monologue Competition is supported by funding from Allstate Insurance.
